This page explains which personal data is processed when you visit this website and when you contact me. It applies under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Short version

This website does not use analytics, advertising cookies, tracking pixels, a contact form, a comment function or embedded third-party content. Fonts are hosted on this website itself and are not loaded from Google. Because of this there is no cookie banner.

3. Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, Cloudflare automatically processes technical data: IP address, date and time, requested page, referring page, browser and operating system. This is necessary to deliver the website, to keep it secure and to find errors.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in a secure and stable website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; processing in line with the principles of the nDSG). The data is deleted after a short retention period set by the hosting provider. The processing is covered by Cloudflare’s data processing addendum.

4. Technically necessary cookies

This website does not set any cookies.

5. Contact by email

If you write to me, I process your email address, your name if given, and the content of your message to answer your request. Legal basis: pre-contractual measures and legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). I delete the correspondence once the matter is concluded, unless statutory retention periods apply (for example for invoices).

My email is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Geneva, Switzerland, which processes it on my behalf. Emails can be read in transit unless both sides use encryption; please do not send sensitive data by unencrypted email.

If you request the SORTED guide by email, I use your email address and the details you give only to send you the guide and to answer follow-up questions. I do not add you to a mailing list. I delete the request once the matter is concluded, unless statutory retention periods apply.

This website links to my LinkedIn profile and to other external sites. No data is passed to LinkedIn merely because you visit this website. Only if you click a link does the other operator receive your data and process it under its own privacy policy.

7. Transfers to other countries

The hosting provider Cloudflare is based in the USA (see section 3), so technical data of your visit can be processed there. The transfer relies on appropriate safeguards such as the EU and Swiss standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the Data Privacy Framework. If a service provider is involved in the processing of your email (see section 5), appropriate safeguards apply as well.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. To exercise these rights, write to web-2026@marcopraetorius.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Switzerland or the data protection authority of your German federal state or EU country.

9. Changes

I update this notice when the website or the legal situation changes. The current version is always the one published on this page.
